Fisherman’s paradise !
For those who love fishing and are on holiday in the Vendee, La Garangeoire is a real paradise!
There are 4 large lakes and ponds, where residents of La Garangeoire can fish for free. However a fishing license is required. The “Garangeoire fish pass” is available at the reception.

Fishing is free is the 4 lakes of the estate:
- Lake N°1 : 2 hectares / 6 acres – reachable by car, with parking facilities.
- Lake N°2 : 1.20 hectare / 4 acres – reachable by foot or by car, without parking facilities.
- Lake N°3 : 3.5 hectares / 12 acres – only available by foot, by unpaved paths with a steep slope.
- Lake N°4 : lake used for irrigation; fishing only allowed from prepared swims. – reachable by foot or by car, without parking facilities.To make the walk easier, with all your fishing equipment, we have trolley for rent.
In order to facilitate the transport of your equipment, we offer rental carts.
Fish stocks
You will find in our lakes :
- Carp (up to 10 kg), Pike, Tench, Perch, Roach and rudd
Coaching on site
Starter sessions for novices or courses to improve tactics (with extra charge) can be occasionally organized by a seasoned fishing instructor. Information and booking at reception.
Equipment
Rods, Reels and Whips are available for hire, at reasonable prices.
Fishing regulations
Fixed and night lines are not permitted. Each person is allowed to use 2 lines.
All rods must be within 3 metres of the owner, any unattended rod must be withdrawn from the water.
No fishing between 10.30pm and 6am.
Strictly “no kill”.
All carp, pike and other species to be returned.
Maximum of 5 fish to be retained for bait per day.
Please do not block the pathways with umbrellas, bivvies etc. Other clients, including walkers, cyclists and horse riders must also have access.
Pike fishing season starts on the 1st of May.
Fishing in nearby Jaunay Lake
Located 2.5 km away from La Garangeoire, the Jaunay lake is quite reknowned for angling.
A permit is requested and can be bought from the reception.
Canoeing and boating on the Garangeoire lake
Enjoy the main lake of La Garangeoire with a canoe, pedal boat or rowing boat.
Key, life jackets and paddles are available from reception, with a 20 € cashback deposit.
First hour is free, 5€ are charged for 30 minutes extra time.
Cycling and mountain biking
The Vendee has over 1800 kilometers of cycle paths and is ideal for cycling in nature.
There are many circuits for the recreational cyclist, but also for the sporty cyclist!

Weekly bicycle and mountain bike rides of different levels are organized.
Bicycle hire
Children’s bicycles with wheels, a bike to move around the campsite, a mountain bike for a bike ride more sporty around Lake Jaunay … We have everything you need!
La Garangeoire rents out recent, well-maintained bicycles and mountain bikes.

La Garangeoire has a protected environment of 200 hectares, and therefore an ideal area for walking or jogging.

Without leaving the domain of La Garangeoire, there are four great hiking trails, which are marked with a specific color, ranging from 30 minutes to 2 hours.
Orienteering : Discover the estate of La Garangeoire and its nature by looking for the tags scattered around the site. A playful and sporting adventure punctuated by questions on the theme of animals and biodiversity !
Land-art : Create ephemeral works after collecting natural elements during a walk in the property. An easy environmental activity the whole family will love.
The discovery walk of La Garangeoire
Once a week, Anne or Eric invites you for an approximately 2 hour walk on the area of La Garangeoire. A discovery walk into the history of La Garangeoire and its surroundings
Guided nature discovery tour:
Discover the different animals that live on the domain during a discovery walk with Béatrice. Learn how to recognise their presence by observing their tracks and clues. At the end of this explorative moment, you can make a footprint mold to take home with you!
For the more adventurous, Béatrice also offers a nocturnal discovery tour. A nocturnal exploration of owls and other nocturnal animals of the Garangeoire estate. Keep your eyes and ears open!

Around lake Jaunay!
Near the campsite there are 11 different hiking trails of Lake Jaunay.
“Le Sentier des Souches“: a dozen of trunks, mostly coming from the lake, processed and cut into true works of art. They are exposed along the path Land’Art with a length of 1.5 km.
“Le Sentier botanique du Jaunay“: this 1.2 km long trail includes 33 information panels and reveals the diversity of the flora and fauna of the vendee.
“La Passerelle-observatoire“: at Baudrières towards Moulin des Rochelles, along the way there are lots of information panels on terrestrial and water fauna and flora as well as the water retention.
